We are addicted to social media
Since smartphones and social media came in to our lives they have taken over such a huge amount of our time and attention, calling it an addiction seems redundant at this point.
In this project I Propose an alternative to cellphones for children that can log them on to a geographically based AR social media platform.
Early research and conclusions
To start off i had to understand what is the base of our addiction, what are the motivations and psychological reasons for social media addictions. Here are my 3 main conclusions:
Despite the negative effects like depression and bullying, I've come to realize that social media isn't inherently bad. It can still be a tool to share our lives within our communities.
I designed a kid-safe social network with geographically tagged "posts" through augmented reality, promoting responsible use by eliminating anonymity and discouraging endless scrolling in bed.
First design iterations
Leaving the "phone-like" concept
Testing for ergonomic placement
More sketches
Final design
The interface
Seen through "Mojo lens" an innovative lens which integrates AR into our vision.
